Christmas market at Maillezais

The 26th edition of the Christmas Fair at Maillezais Abbey (Vendée) takes place over the first two weekends of December. From Friday evening onwards, the public will be able to immerse themselves in the oriental atmosphere and enjoy a wide range of entertainment.

The Christmas Fair in Maillezais (Vendée) at the beginning of December has always been a big hit with visitors, from the illuminations to the variety of events. The enchantment of the festive season, coupled with the opportunity to dine and shop, is always a particularly pleasant time for the public. The 2023 edition should be no exception.

A journey through time in the heart of a medina
From what started out as a small event, the organizers set a record in 2022: 48,000 people turned out over two weekends, exceeding all expectations. Admittedly, there was a bit of a wait at the entrance, but this inconvenience should be solved this time. A real journey back in time, to the heart of a medina, will be offered. Stroll through a magnificent forest of oriental plants and a landscape of Berber tents.

Bringing the whole family and letting yourself be transported by the magic of Christmas is undoubtedly the main theme of this long-awaited event on the threshold of winter. In a warm Oriental atmosphere, among the stalls and desert tents set up in front of the cathedral, you’ll be able to find authentic craftsmanship in over 70 stalls: artisans, small local producers and those involved in everyday life, not forgetting the many events! So many opportunities to find original gift ideas and taste delicious local produce.

The Cinéscenie from Puy du Fou is coming back !

The Vendean blockbuster, created in 1978, kicks off its new season this Saturday evening. New features include a Venetian ball and an aerial fleet of homemade drones.

14000

That’s the capacity of the Cinescénie stands in front of the Puy du Fou castle. Almost the equivalent of the Palais omnisports de Bercy, in Paris, for 28 evenings, in the middle of the countryside. We can therefore consider that, potentially, over 390,000 spectators will see the show…

Meunerie party

Volunteers at the Fête de la Meunerie, in Rives-d’Autise (Vendée), are working hard to ensure the success of the new edition. On Saturday May 27, Sunday May 28 and Monday May 29, 2023, the seven-hectare site of Le Vignaud, its island and mill, will be back in the heart of the 1920s.

Since 1977, the Fête de la Meunerie has been held every two years on the banks of the Autise during the Whitsun weekend. Around the water mill, the festival plunges us into a 1920s Vendéen village with its old trades. It brings the rural environment to life through its roots, and brings together all generations.

We’re staying true to the spirit that drives the whole troupe, but while the 700 volunteers will be in costume, we’ll have a few new touches. Concerts and songs will be the order of the day, and entertainment, skits, demonstrations of skills and exhibitions will dot the two days of Sunday and Monday. There will be plenty of opportunity for interaction with the public, and all generations will come together to enjoy a great time around our magnificent water mill, which will also be open to visitors. We also offer on-site catering, including our famous “mogette roasts”, which are always a big hit with visitors.
